Stan Sakai's work is, and always has been gorgeously clean. What you will see are his original pages, at original size, in the exact condition that the original page appears. Unlike most gallery books, there is not a lot of concept or unused production art here for the simple fact that Stan often goes directly from concept to finished product. His original pencils are done on the same board as the final inking, then erased away so cleanly that you can't tell they were ever even there.That said, there is wonderful insight to go along with the art, and I gained an even higher appreciation for the master artist and letterer that is Stan Sakai.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.it's a pretty impressive bookBy GreysonYou have to know what Gallery Edition means to really appreciate this book and not get fooled. I was misled a little bit by the description, when they said "in full color," thinking that it was Usagi Yojimbo colorized. In actually, it is full sized color copies of Stan Sakai's original art work. Color is a misnomer as he draws in black and white. The "color" would technically be, what I am guessing, the discoloration of the original pages. What you get is an inside look at Stan Sakai's process. You can make out his mistakes and corrections before the printers fix everything for our reading pleasure.
