WellsThis is a very fine book. In terms of full disclosure, I must say that David Levy and I are personal friends, and were professors at the University of Oklahoma until our retirements. This, and his second volume, are very interesting accounts of the University's development. But, the strength of both volumes is in the fact that they are accounts rooted in the characteristics and history of a regional culture. The style of both volumes is unusually clear and unpretentious.
